Do not expect one formula to be ideal for every technique merely because it produces high immediate gloss. Standardize a small number of tested protocols and record where each is used.
Wipe vs. no-wipe is a workflow decision
A no-wipe top coat finishes without a removable dispersion layer when correctly applied and cured. A wipe formula requires the specified finishing procedure. Neither category is automatically shinier, safer or more durable. Performance depends on formulation, compatible layers, application and curing.
For a wipe formula, use the cleanser and waiting period specified by the manufacturer. A contaminated pad, premature wiping or repeated handling can affect the visible result. For a no-wipe formula, inspect the surface after the full cure and avoid touching it during cooling or finishing unless the instructions allow it.

Control thickness, leveling and the perimeter
Load enough product for a continuous layer without flooding sidewalls or the proximal fold. Guide the material with controlled brush movement and allow the time specified for leveling. Turning the finger can help inspect sidewalls, but do not allow the product to migrate while waiting.
Check the side profile before curing. Excess top coat can distort architecture and may not cure as intended. Dry patches, missed corners and an open free edge can create uneven shine or premature wear. The goal is a complete uniform film, not the thickest possible layer.
Use the compatible lamp and full exposure specified for the formula. Wattage alone does not demonstrate curing compatibility. Keep the lamp clean and inspect hand placement, especially thumbs and curved sidewalls.
Create a salon wear protocol
Test the top coat over the actual colors and effects used in services. Record product batch, underlying layers, lamp, cure schedule and application thickness. Photograph immediate gloss in consistent light, then observe scratching, dulling, staining, edge wear and peeling over time.
When a problem appears, identify its first location and the layer that separated. Dullness after cleanser suggests a different investigation from a sheet of top coat peeling at the sidewall. Change one variable per retest rather than switching several products simultaneously.
